Bug with DNGs from Pentax K-7

    Hi,

I hope there will be a last-minute fix before release for this (unless already known and fixed)...

I just got my new K-7 and took a few shots with it. I tried both PEFs and DNGs from the camera.

ACDSee does eventually process the DNGs successfully, but with an annoying bug for which I found a cumbersome workaround:

    * In Manage mode, ACDSee displays the embedded JPEG preview correctly.

    * However, once I enter Process mode, ACDSee renders a black image from the raw data. Both the preview image and the updated thumbnail are pitch black.

    * The workaround: Change some parameter in Develop mode (doesn't matter which), and click Done; In Manage mode, select another file and then re-select the DNG; Enter Process mode again. The image is now previewed and processed fine.

This looks to me like a tiny bug. I am hopeful and confident that the devs will be able to handle it before release.

BTW, as is already known, PEFs are not supported at all. However, since Dave Coffin's latest dcraw does support the K-7, and K-7 raws are actually very similar to K20D raws (except some metadata fields), I am sure this issue can also be solved very quickly.

I am eagerly looking forward to lay hands on the final release version.

Best regards and Good Luck with the release,

    Noam

I have just had the same problem. I'm a proud owner of a K7 as well.

There is also a similar problem with 2.5. On this I can see the image. Then moments later it disappears.

Also with regards to 3 the image when it appears is quite often much darker than it was originally. I cannot revert to original because the software thinks that no changes have been made. If you would like a file to test out yourselves I could provide one.
