Browsing by Categories Improvements

    I'm using the categories quite a lot for browsing pictures. I think with some little extensions this feature could be improved quite a bit:

    • mark or highlight categories if a subcategory is selected but not visible because the parent category has been closed (I sometimes don't know anymore what I have selected because I don't have any indication on the screen...)
    • add menu item to clear current selection (without the need to go through image well selection), e.g. in the "Match Any/All" menu
    • allow configuring the auto categories, e.g. by adding one more category for focal length or changing the limits for telephoto
    • it is also a little bit confusing that the check boxes on the categories stays active when you switch to folder browsing, i.e. looking at the screen does not tell you which of the two browsing options is active now

    In addition I sometimes have the effect that when I change the category selection acdsee seems to loop saying "retrieving information...". I haven't been able to reproduce this on request, so has anybody else experienced this as well ?
    I also would appreciate seeing a boolean search for categories as requested already in parallel threads.

    Hi I have recently seen the problems with the "perpetual wait" while ACDSee retrieves information.
    I found that it happened when I used slective browsing with the match/all/any "wrong" combination.
    Well I think it is a bug because I tried from a brand new DB and there I did not have the problem (after creating a couple of test categories). So it seems to be linked to DB size.

    I'd like to second all your requests. Additionally:

    • When I’ve gone to folder browsing and returned to the Organize pane, there should be a button for restoring my previous selection, rather than (as far as I can tell) deselecting something and then reselecting it.
