beta test - why none ?

(7 posts)
  • Does anyone know why 2.5 was not beta tested ?

If it had of been then the issues of not retaining options and layout settings would have soon been found to be unacceptable.

Note to ACD - please run beta test programs on all significant releases, and allow beta to run alongside existing version - preferably in a sandbox.

got no idea why there was no pre-release-test for users of what they call version "2.5"; but now they make their beta-test, with paying users.
i wonder why support team doesn't open a new thread with -WORKING- workarounds for all those having problems with the update.
my workaround with MSCIUU2.exe to get rid of install remainings of older version is not mentioned anywhere - no one has that problem?

not me Antoine, my install was fine.

Apart from the loss of layout & options settings [a major issue at the time, but I guess I've gotten over it now]. I have had no "technical" problems, but the total lack of any release documentation has caused me procedural problems.

I especially don't like the way that the program tries to take responsibilities away from me and does things contrary to the manner in which I have my system setup.

ACDSee Pro 2.5 is good a picture organiser, but its not an operating system. I wish app developers would stick to their knitting, or go and get a job in the O/S division of Microsoft, IBM, Sun etc.

IMO not running a beta smacks of arrogance, taking responsibilities away from me and the O/S is not dissimilar.

prob was: i was stuck between v2, which could not be removed error 1714, (and was no more working); and v2.5 which didn't install coz older version couldn't been removed. a clearcut catch 22 situation!
solution was: cleaning installer remainings with msicuu2.exe from microsoft, reboot, new install.

glad you made it. a pity that acdsee-support-team seems to be vanished. seems that acdsee "pro" is not their best selling product.
