For me, anyhow, with my Pentax RAW files (PEF). My understanding is that when I use Batch Set Info to write my db info to IPTC, it actually just creates sidecar XMP files. This is exactly what Embed Database Info does, too. Except Embed finishes almost instantly no matter how many files I select (perhaps it is actually still working in the background?), whereas Batch Set takes several seconds per image. I expect this to take time when writing DNG or any other format where ACDSee might be re-wrtiting the whole image file, but not for a RAW file where it's just creating a tiny sidecar file.
It seems that one of the previous builds didn't work this way - Batch Set was *fast* for PEF files, but at some point it's gone back to being 100X (roughly) slower.
Does anyone else see what I'm talking about? I'm wondering if it's a configuration thing on my end, if there is something I am not understanding about the process, or if this something I should submit a support ticket on.
