See screenshot, it should let you configure it to any number by clicking on the arrows. Attached Image:

Yes, I understand that... I would like that box to have a "1" in it when it comes up...all the time. Why does it come up with a random number?? that's my question. I want to change it so that a "1" is there when it comes up. I have to change that box to a "1" each time, and it is extremely annoying.

I don't have my ACDSee here but I think that's no random number but a number related to the numbering of the pictures you want to rename.

Yes you are right it picks up the images current number but the OP is right - why would you want to rename with the same name? Default to 1 would make more sense to me

That's right. I always enter a "1" there, too.

I would also like this as well!! I hate always having to replace the "whatever" number with the 1.
But ACDSee is using some sort of AI to try figure out where you want to start, if your first file has a 001 or 01 or something in the name then the batch rename will indeed start at 1. But if the first file of your list has a name like this: 26e0e638.jpg, then the batch rename sequence will default at 638. It basically takes the first file your want to name and assumes you want to name the sequence based on the orginal numbers in the name...which can be lame.
I totally think that a "default" setting for this entry, or a "last number used" setting should be an option!

I am glad to see some folks are realizing the unfriendliness of this feature. I am a dog breeder, and take pictures of puppies dogs, and people with dogs...I like to change the filename to reflect the name, age of the dog, and breeding of the dog, for identification at a glance, so a default to one is what I need. Or even a user-definable template option, would be good, too.

It's been over a year now, and ACDSee has still not addressed this problem. (of course it's not a problem to them...only to us who use the program)
