I have installed/ reinstalled this several times. Right after installation it will run, but shortly thereafter nothing clicking icon does nothing. I see in the boards this is not a new problem, has a solution been found. I also have version 9 on the machine which works fine except for the %updating in lower right that always seems to be using all my cpu. My machine is Running XP Pro service pack 2. I am very hesitant to uninstall Ver9 unless I can verify this is the problem as I use it all the time. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

There are probably a number of problems that could cause this behavior; there' no way to no right now which you might be seeing.  But the standard advice I have is to first try taking all files out of the folder ACDSee is trying to startup in, to see if some file there is causing the problem, and also try renaming ACDSee's default catalog (browse your AppData folder to find it) to see if making ACDSDee start with an empty db works around the startup problem.  Chances are, though, you'll need to contact customer support (link at top left of this page).

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply, Although I haven't had a chance to try your suggestions yet as it is currently uninstalled. I did try uninstalling all versions and deleteing what I could find in the registry. Then I reinstalled, still nothing even right after the new install. I also have tried installing on another machine with same results (nothing happens). I have reinstalled Photo Manager V9 again (after searching for the disk for 1hr), just so I have it to use. Do you think it Is possible that maybe a bad batch of disks went out with a corrupted file or something like that.

    Regards,

    Mike

Possible, I suppose, but doesn't really seem likely to me.  Hopefully Support will be able to sort it out for you.
