    Hello,

I was using ACDSee Pro 2.5 fine until this morning.  The program would not even load up. No process running on task manager what so ever.

I have not made any change on my laptop for the last few days.  So shouldn't be registry?

I tried to do a system restore, still not working.

I uninstalled then reinstalled, it works for the afternoon. As soon as I got home from work, it stopped working again. No error report, no nothing. Just doesn't load, seems like the program "disappeared" somehow.

I can still use the "quick view" but when I click on "Full viewer" or "Photo manager" it froze then close itself.

I used ACDSee 8.0 before, never had this problem.

Any troubleshooting would be appreciated, I have to organize 8gigs of pics before next Monday, will have to use 8.0 for now.

Have you rebooted?  Sometimes an old "zombie" process left over from a previous crash or interrupted shutdown can cause issues like this.

My ACDSee Pro 2.5 also stopped working recently. I was unable to use the photo manager at all. Some suggested that it is a Window (I am using Vista, Ultimate) problem and it has something to do with some of the file names. Is it possible because I just had several Windows update from MS ?  I had ACDSee stopped working several times before, but it comes back. However, this time it won't. Help will be appreciated.

    Hi,

please refer to the Kositch Thread for the same problem. I posted my comments - not a solution to the problem - there.

For the time being, I download the Pro 3.0 beta and I am able to use the photo manager until it expires at Oct 31. I guess I would have to pay to get 3.0 after that???

i have Acdsee for a long time, but i have to say i am somewhat dissapointed.
Acdsee has crashed through all the version i went through and i don't know why the developer does not get it under control.
Sure, there is now SP2 for Vista and it is fairly new. But developers get info to changes sooner then we as a consumer.
I just reinstalled my whole computer and have a clean system and acdsee pro still crashes, even if i want to multirename files. wow..
I think this nails it for me to just switch over to Apple. I am really tired of all those crashes.
But i like to add, that i really like Acdsee as a fast program. If it would be just work the way it supposed to. Crashes are very bad and with no other program i had so many problems regarding crashes and database.

This is what Vista tells me.

Aha.. Kernel. This error seems to pop up through all versions.
You can not expect that a user reinstalls always the program to erase a problem. The program supposed to work. I paid for that money. What i have is a unstable product with which i can not work. I do not know how to get rid of this bug, but i had once already the customer service working on this with Acdsee 9 and it did not help really. Although they tried to solve it.
