I realize lots of people are experiencing problems with this upgrade. While I personally didn't have any *severe* ones, I had probably customized my window layout and keyboard shortcuts as much as anyone, and wasn't pleased about having to redo this. I am hopeful that all the activity and discussion here this week will have positive results. I know the folks at ACDSee are hard at work fixing the issues that are being reported.

I'm just going to put my usual positive spin on the release by pointing out a couple of nice things I am noticing:

    - While I was disappointed to find the rename capabilities in the new import facility are not improved, meaning I still have to do my renaming *after* the import, I was pleasantly surprised to find that renaming a RAW file after the import now *does* automatically rename the XMP sidecar that got created during import as a result of the metadata I added then.

    - While I was disappointed to find the metadata embedding uses proprietary fields within the XMP format, so embedded metadata cannot be shared with other applications, I was pleasantly surprised to find that running Batch Set Information to embed my metadata in IPTC no longer causes thumbs to be regenerated.

    - In limited playing with the "Save Originals" feature, I can see it being quite handy.

Well, I do hope everyone gets their issues with 2.5 straightened out, and I'll continue to try to help as I can (but remember, I'm just a fellow user - I don't work for ACD!)
