I am ready to upgrade to Elements 8. 1. I am using a netbook with a screen resolution of 1024 x 576 and while the image areas seem to be OK, the "import image" screen does not display right. This is a BIG problem. 2. While maybe minor, the fact that I can not email ACDsee directly is a problem too. Having to depend on a forum for help is not the way to market a product. I don't do business with people I can not interact with. Am I all wet here? As I mentioned in a previous Topic after sharpening and saving an image, I find later on viewing the same image in ACDSee it is less sharp than the image I worked on. On "Crop". Each time I return to Crop an image in regardless of crop size I must click the size twice since the first showing eg: 3x2 does not crop to this ratio. This is not a fault but slows your workflow. Why is there not the function to display only the your prefered tools (icons - version 2.5) I hate having to scroll down a list just to crop, lighten, sharpen etc. Why is there no way to deactivate the the saving of Original and Developed folders. This function to me may benefit the few but personally just cloggs up my Harddrive and cost me more time in having to delete. Scrambled search panel.  Hopefully will be fixed before next couple of years ..... ;-) problems coming from 2.5.  2) Search does not permit a search based on the major exif field. For example, If I need to do a search for portrait or landscape pictures, I can't 3) Doesn't use the standard "de facto" ratings used by Microsoft and Adobe. I have a DB of 20k photo and the majority are rated using that system. 4) Doesn't give the possibility, as other softwares do, to embed xmp info (tag, i.e.) into raw files. I hate the .xmp file added to each raw. It has performed remarkably well and trouble free over the span of the 8+ years or so that I have used it on an almost-everyday basis...   Recently, and soon after downloading an update for MS Windows XP Home Edition, Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090814-1435 Service Pack 3, I noticed an anomaly with the performance of the ACDSee viewer...   Specifically, when I attempt to browse a directory with the viewer, some of the file names appear to be highlighted in yellow (see below)... In other directories they are ALL  highlighted in yellow... <img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y203/jubriscoe/ViewerIssue.jpg" />    If I attempt to open the yellow-higlighted pic with the viewer, the viewer is BLANK; the viewer is open, buy no image appears... The affected pics WILL open with another viewer, just not with ACDSee; the file-name highlighting and BLANK viewer problem is unique to ACDSee only...   I am almost positive this is related to the update I mentioned above... The update probably overwrote or corrupted an ACDSee driver or plug-in... If I attempt to reinstall ACDSee 3.1, I get the same results, indicating to me that the problem is in the way the application is interfacing with the operating system, or something akin to that, not specifically in the application itself, necessarily... Maybe the current MS update included a module that the curent ACDSee drivers or plub-ins cannot interrface with, I dunno...   I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem recently and what I must do to remedy this ??? ... I really don't want to upgrade to a more capable version and have to learn another application just yet... Currently, this one version fits my limited editing and viewing needs PERFECTLY... One of the things I'd used a lot is the external file slideshow capability. With the older versions you could generate an file that listed your pictures, save the file with an .ais extension, then play it via ACDSee's slideshow. As an 'improvement' under 2009, the feature was dropped. I miss it badly. I'd used other applications to create the lists of pictures, then used ACDSee to run the slideshow. Now, I can't. I can just use the old version, but I'd love to be able to use the new version's transition effects. Has anyone found a way around this? Using the repair tool on a large 10 mg ORF (Olympus raw) file that has been modified in develop. Took me ten minutes to eliminate a couple of small spots. The file saved and saved and saved and.... The loading box appeared and the progress slider went around and around. Eventually it would settle down and I could get back to the next change. Any ideas about this? Working with XP Home with 4 GIG of ram but my C: drive is getting full. The actual files are on an external drive. Suggestions? I use FotoSlate 4 to create (very quickly) and print large catalogs of my images, sorted in the order stated above,  with metadata showing the file name and the Image Desciption below each photo.  I was having problems with the metadata that I added using Adobe Bridge (File Browser) refusing to show up properly in FotoSlate 4.  This morning I discovered by experimenting, that the metadata added thru the Adobe Bridge File Browser is NOT an actual part of the file itself, and this is why it is not showing up in FotoSlate.  Metadata added this way seems to be sort of "attached" to the file for the exclusive use of Bridge!  Another Adobe idiotsyncracy I guess. To fix the problem, you have to OPEN the file in Photoshop, use the File Info window to enter your metadata info, and then actually SAVE or SAVE AS the entire file!  When you go back to FotoSlate the metadata will now show up properly, because it is now an actual part of the image file itself.
