I have just installed the trial of version 3 and the mouse wheel does not scroll the images correctly in manage view. The images scroll left (previous) when I use the wheel to scroll up or down.

Works fine in version 2.5 and other programs.

I like the new display but I feel this time ACDSee are more like the "Bill Gates" crew, by bringing a new product to the market and leaving it to the consumer to test. As I mentioned in a previous Topic after sharpening and saving an image, I find later on viewing the same image in ACDSee it is less sharp than the image I worked on. On "Crop". Each time I return to Crop an image in regardless of crop size I must click the size twice since the first showing eg: 3x2 does not crop to this ratio.

This is not a fault but slows your workflow. Why is there not the function to display only the your prefered tools (icons - version 2.5) I hate having to scroll down a list just to crop, lighten, sharpen etc. Why is there no way to deactivate the the saving of Original and Developed folders. This function to me may benefit the few but personally just cloggs up my Harddrive and cost me more time in having to delete.

I hope an Update will be following this new version soon in addressing these issues and others listed here too.

let me explain the reasons why ACDSEE instead to be a perfect tool it is unuseful to me.

1) compatibility with Windows 7. Scrambled search panel. Hopefully will be fixed before next couple of years ..... ;-)

problems coming from 2.5.

2) Search does not permit a search based on the major exif field. For example, If I need to do a search for portrait or landscape pictures, I can't

3) Doesn't use the standard "de facto" ratings used by Microsoft and Adobe. I have a DB of 20k photo and the majority are rated using that system.

4) Doesn't give the possibility, as other softwares do, to embed xmp info (tag, i.e.) into raw files. I hate the .xmp file added to each raw. Why don't permit this? it could be a configurable choice.

All the rest would be really well done, but that missing feature are showstopper to me.

Hi to everybody.

I've a very big problem with database maintenance.

I've changed my hard disk, I've copied all my images (more on 30.000) in the new hard disk, into the same position, but now the database says me to not find my images, because they are on another volume.

How can I fix it?

Thanks for help

using pro 2.5, have not changed anything in setup since first installing it. last month it started a problem, I use 'import' to read files from my card, and write my copyright into into exif/iptc while importing. it now reads the card, allows me to select which photos to import, everything normal, but when I click import, it FLIES thru the list of photos, ends and then gives me the error message: "Unable to import file " and then the path to the file. I have tried reading from my card, from CD, from another folder on the drive, always the same thing.

I have tried optimizing the database, everything short of uninstalling and reinstalling pro 2.5. anyone else run into this? currently I'm having to transfer images to disk using the operating system, and then use batch processing to write exif/iptc data.

I should add that when I try to import, I am having the importer create a new subfolder based on todays date. that subfolder IS being created properly, it just will not transfer the image files. it reads them because it pulls up the filenames and thumbnails correctly, it just wont transfer them.

I shot 11 portraits the other day, and one of the files, IMG_238.jpg wont display the thumbnail and wont come up in view. if I rename it to IMG_238a.jpg it works just fine. I can rename it to anything I want actually, and it works just fine, but if I rename it BACK to IMG_238.jpg, it won't come up... just black screen.

I have optimized the database, deleted the file and reinstalled from the card, copied image from card to another directory where it works just fine, then copy back into my working directory and it won't show again.

Stupid crap. I'm sure the database is the problem, what else could it be? some glitch in the database that wont allow it to show and won't clean up in maintenance. I really wish they would make ACDSee so you could turn the database off if you aren't using it.

Is anyone using ACDSee Pro 2.5 with the full release of Windows 7?

I can't remember which version of ACDSee I was using when the final version of Windows Vista was released, but it was several months before ACDSee had a version that would work in Vista. I wound up having to reformat my hard drive and go back to Windows XP to have ACDSee working again. I never did get around to reinstalling Vista and have been quite happy with XP in any case.

I do want to upgrade to Windows 7, but not if ACDSee won't work. If there is any support info on Windows 7 on the ACDSee website,

I've downloaded ACDSee acdseeprobeta-1-1-148-mac-en for Mac, OS X Snow Leopard, Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 4 GB.

The install worked fine, I just dragged the camera icon to the application folder icon.

However, when I try to run, I just get a camera icon in the Dock, at first bobbing back and forth, then just static. It displays no now menu bar or window. Activity Monitor says ACDSee is Unresponsive. So I've killed the process.

I'm about to delve into Pro 3 and I've got about 12,000 images to organize. I generally work on one desktop at home and a laptop at work and travel. Is there a simple way I can install ACDSEE on both computers and begin to tag my images with keywords but still keep the data on both computers syncronized? I keep all my images on both computers and when I upload new images they go on both computers as well as a backup copy (all on hard drives). Being able to organize my work on both computers would mean tha no matter where I am I can get some work done...obviously my biggest concern is in keeping everything in sync.

I have spent ages trying to convert my exisiting ACDSee 7 database to Pro 3 (trial version) but without a lot of success. I have followed the procedure which reproduces in Pro 3 the categories I set up in v.7 so I assume these must be stored in Application Data\ACD Systems\Catalogs\70\Default. However the conversion does not assign any images to the categories and the captions, notes and keywords assigned to the images fail to appear. I assume, but don't know, that this data must therefore be stored elsewhere. I keep my images in various folders and subfolders under My Pictures but these folders are not accepted by the conversion procedure as a valid database.

Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong and what I should do to effect a complete database conversion? Any help will be much appreciated.

Please can anyone out there shed any light on why ACDSee have refused to implement the ESC behaviour as requested by many many users. It seems that actual users views don't really count for much as the one thing that dozens have asked for was that if an image was double clicked from explorer or other program (outside of ACDSee Pro 3) then (if Quick View has been switched on in options) the ESC key should just exit back to explorer instead of (currently) exiting full screen and then having to press ESC again to exit back to explorer .... but then not only that when Quick View is loaded the very next time - you have lost the Full Screen setting !!!!!

Even in the main program the ESC key doesn't work as users would want. If you're in Full Screen "View Mode" then pressing ESC just leaves full screen and doesn't go back to "Manage" mode....

This simple request for the ESC key behaviour must be too much to ask for when obviously programmers know best!!!! they always want to fix thingsthat aren't broken by re-inventing the wheel with a shiny new square one.

I can't advise any of my many many customers and colleagues to buy it as it stands.

In ACDsee 2.5 it works fine with the same images. Coverting these images to another format without metadata solves this error, but leaves me without exif data.

For the most part the program has some new enhancements we like but the automatic creation of originals folders and developed folders is causing a great deal of trouble, we can't turn it off and it is now starting to cause issues in that drive space is being gobbled up to the tune of 50 to 100 gig a day. We will either need to stop the creation or discontinue the use. Any options here??? I would most don't even realize it is happening since it is being hidden.

I'm considering the offer to upgrade from Photo Manager 2009 to Pro 3, but I'm not at all sure I need the extra features of Pro 3, since I almost never import photos from my camera.

My biggest issue is image distribution to various folders and subfolders. Even after downloading the Pro 3 trial I still can't determine if Pro 3 (or 2009, for that matter) supports some method of allowing the user to setup hotkeys to distribute the file currently showing in the viewer to various folders...

For example, I would like something akin to this:

CTRL+Numeric Keypad 1: Move file to folder path E:\People

CTRL+Numeric Keypad 9: Move file to folder path G:\Misc\Animals

Numeric Keypad +: Move file to folder path G:\Misc\Animals\Horses

Failing that, how about being able to assign hotkeys to categories, i.e.:

CTRL+Numeric Keypad 1: Assign file to category: People

CTRL+Numeric Keypad 9: Assign file to category: Animals

Numeric Keypad +: Assign file to category: Horses

Failing all of that, what organization techniques are available that do NOT require mousing in either product? Because ACDSee seems to provide no good organization techniques that do not require mouse interaction. Is there some other tool that I could use for this purpose?
