This is my first big problem with the 3.0 interface...too many options and too hard to track them all down going from tab to tab. In 2.5 Pro I had a nice icon bar on the left...I could INSTANTLY do ANYTHING to a photo with one click.

In 3.0 I'm running all over the place...Develop or Edit? Tune? Geometry? Detail? And all the commands in tiny little letters (old guy speaking here!) with no simple graphic icons that indicate functions. (I bet people who don't speak English perfectly really hate this new version)

So, is there a way to show icons for functions like you had?

Thanks!

For the most part the program has some new enhancements we like but the automatic creation of originals folders and developed folders is causing a great deal of trouble, we can't turn it off and it is now starting to cause issues in that drive space is being gobbled up to the tune of 50 to 100 gig a day. We will either need to stop the creation or discontinue the use. Any options here??? I would most don't even realize it is happening since it is being hidden.

Been a faithful ACDsee-er since 2.4 & am pleased w/ Pro 3 yet still encounter ever present bug that causes pgm to occasionally freeze when creating a new sub-directory from within the manager with corresponding error msg "the program is not responding " necessitating Ctrl-Alt-Del (BTW, the sub-directory is created, but pgm is frozen).

error signature szModName: hungapp

This morning I've been categorising for a couple of hours w/ no problem creating directories then app freezes for no apparent reason.

This is and always has been a random occurence on many different computers, as well as diff versions of both windows and ACDsee.

Currently running Pro3 v3.0.355.0 on Vista w SP3, but I've had this exact same problem since v4 on W98! same with v6 & 7 on Xp, same with Pro1, Pro2 etc...) and am surprised that this is still occurring w/Pro3 on an otherwise pretty stable and mature program.

Any solutions or comments?

I use Over several years now I have used ACDSee as a tool that enables me to do quick edits to my images, specially when handling large volume of images from sports events.

The customizable Toolbars specially in version 2.5 were a quick way for me to do basic adjustments to an image.

I have started using 3.0 and I am having to spend an awfull lot of time moving from view to edit modes just to rotate or crop images. My workflow has in fact become more complicated by using version 3, I am considering going back to version 2.5 and have in fact being using that as a first viewer for some types of images, but of course that messes up a lot of other things in the catalog.

Any way to create toolbars, or is acdsee doing anyting to address this issue?

Since Pro was so slow with XP I waited for a new machine with Window 7 to install Pro 2.5 only to find out that starting the program now takes about 5 minutes to reach workable where XP and ACDSee 5.0 took about a couple of seconds

What happened to speed?

Yes, I did cataloque, optimize and maintanance + unchecked generate high quality thumbnails

This ain't gonna work at this speed and that Retrieving information is coming back whenever I change something within ACDSee settings and after that a % counter starts will take more additional time to start full version

Hope someone can give me solutions for this issue

One of my favorite and most used features of acdsee are the categories. For example, one category I've created are for all of the diffuse maps for all of the textures in our game and that category basically acts as our texture browser that we use for level design in our 3d apps.

But one feature I've always wished acdsee had was the ability to filter the images that are currently being displayed by their filenames. So for example, if I need to see only the images with "metal" in their filenames, I'd like to be able to just click in a filter dialog line and type in metal and then instantaneously, all the images that don't have metal in their names disappear from the viewport, and when I want them all to come back, I just delete the "metal" word from that dialog filter line.

The closest thing acdsee has right now is the search feature, but I don't like using that because when I do, I have to click the SYNCH TO BROWSER settings button every time i use it and the search also takes about 30 seconds or so, when this category only has 2000 files in it. Also, when I want to go back to seeing all of the files in the category, the only way I can do that is to click the back arrow, which is fine, but I'd rather prefer just being able to either delete the text from the filter dialog line or click an X that's next to the filter dialog line that clears it for you in one click (similar to the X that itunes has for it's quick filter dialog line). I'd feel much more secure doing that than clicking the back arrow, because whenever I click that, I'm afraid I'll not go back to the dir or category I wanted to go back to but will instead go to the dir used before that one I ran the search in.

One more thing is that really, all I personally want this filter to do is to search in the file names, but to make it more powerful, it would probably be good to put in a little options window next to the filter dialog line that let you specify whether or not you want to filter by KEYWORDS, FILE PATH, FILE NAME, and CATEGORIES. Oh, and there will have to be some visual difference between this dialog line and the quick search dialog line, as they would normally look identical. Also, I'd like the ability to hide the quick search line, but not hide this line (as I never use the quick search line and wouldn't want to hide the filter line as well when I hid it)

Anyways, thanks for listening and I hope this gets put in. I love this feature in itunes and I'd like the same thing in acdsee. :)

I have got many pictures which are saved on my PC, most are in a folder of their own.

I try to explain my problem to the best that I can & hopefully someone can shine a light as to how I can sort this problem out!!?

When I open the folder I can see most of the pictures except for few which I only get to see a logo of acdsee with a jpg on top.

When I click to open it I only see a blank page, but I still get to see all the information about the picture; ie; size in mega pix as well as all the other information.

If I try to change the format I get a message saying: The source data format is not recognized!!!

Is there anyway of sorting this out? Or have I lost the pictures for good?

Now I have two problems using ver 3.0.

Without any support on these problems, I have to consider returning to older versions. It is really annoying me now and I regret my hasty purchase of ver 3.0.

1. ver 3.0 can't auto-resize the window size any more.

When viewing the photos in 'Fit Image' zoom mode, auto-resizing option is very useful . As far as I know, all previous versions provide the option and changed window size to fit image through display option.

Just think. Without this option, viewing photos in different screen size, I have to adjust the window size of each photos 'manually' to see them in best quality.

2. In 'Actual size' zoom mode, impossible to reduce the window size less than half the original window size.

In older versions, it was possible. It is useful when I want to see a specific part of photos.

Apparently it is not possible to export a series of developed and/or edited pictures in one go from the Process department. You can only export one picture at the time or go back to Manage and select Batch Develop (and Export files to another format).

I see in the boards this is not a new problem, has a solution been found. I am very hesitant to uninstall Ver9 unless I can verify this is the problem as I use it all the time. Any help would be appreciated.

I am finding the Develop Mode slower in responding and making discernible visual changes to the images than in Edit Mode. Also in the Advanced section of Lighting, I try to darken the required areas by 'dragging' on the image and there is no response or visible difference in the image or in the Lighting Histogram. The only time I can get it to darken, is if I have lightened the image first and all that does is decrease the lighten changes. Most of my images JPEGsare 4 - 8MB in size, I realise that it will be slower when editing png due to the sheer size of them compared to JPEGs

Can anyone please tell me what I might be doing wrong, as by the tutorial videos, the develop mode seems very fast and having 100's of files per shoot folder to edit, doing it this way will take forever.

Thanks, in anticipation.
