Thanks for responding Marc, sorry I've been out of the country a few times and been extremely busy to come back to this forum lately.

You are correct, there is no "auto-refresh" in Pro 2.5 sorry! However I do find it strange that this option or ability has been disabled and removed.

As for better image management I do realize that the system I'm using is not very efficient, but it's unfortunately the only one that I can use when it comes working with many people working with the same image files using vastly different image viewers and editors. We have basically setup a system where the organization of files and folders are automatically listed alphabetically, numerically and symbolically (ALT codes, null spaces etc.). This allows anyone to view the folders in an organized state with any viewer or file explorer.

I would really like everyone to get ACDSee but there are so many people that have other preferred editors and viewers. So for the last several years we struck an excellent way to organize files that are independent of databases and 3rd party software.

I love ACDSee for it's quick image flipping/viewing and nice clean interface. Personally, I have disabled most toolbars and have left the main menu, preview window, status bar, and the image listing window for a very minimal display.

I like the ability to change the sort order of images to where I wanted and then batch rename the whole list to keep that order so that when other people view that image list (without ACDSee) the images would be in proper order.

The auto-refresh I just took for granted in the past versions of ACDSee but I now miss it and it's a pain having to always hit the F5 to refresh. When I move files out of the folder it doesn't update and still shows them till I refresh.

Thanks!

So... what does the "auto-refresh" feature actually do then?

What "auto-refresh" are you talking about? I don't see any option by that name in Pro 2.5, although perhaps I'm just not looking in the right places. Pro 2.5 does automatically notice when you add new files (and automatically puts them at the end of the list). Perhaps in previous versions it noticed only if if you enabled this option, and then there was a second option to control whether they went to the end or in their correct sort order?

Anyhow, between this and you other question about renaming, I'd like to encourage you think about an image management strategy that doesn't rely on lots of adding pictures to existing foldrs and especially not then renaming them - both strike me as not very good practices. But perhaps you could eplain your system a little better...

Sadly, this feature was removed from ACDSee a long time ago. I have requested to put it back in several times, but to no avail.

(Posted in ACDSee 10, but now I'm trying ACDSee 2.5 Pro so this applies in this forum)

In ACDSee 5.0 (and not sure of other versions) I could enable "Place new files in sorted order" when going to the options and then selecting: User Interface >> File List >> Auto/Quick refresh >> Enable auto-refresh >> Place new files in sorted order.

This would mean when I drag new files/folders into the ACDSee filelist window they would automatically sort. ACDSee 2.5 Pro just puts them at the end of the list and I have to refresh (F5) manually or go out and back into the folder to get it to sort. Doesn't the "Auto-refresh" do this?

Thanks for any help!
