I've downloaded ACDSee acdseeprobeta-1-1-148-mac-en for Mac, OS X Snow Leopard, Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 4 GB.

The install worked fine, I just dragged the camera icon to the application folder icon.

However, when I try to run, I just get a camera icon in the Dock, at first bobbing back and forth, then just static. It displays no now menu bar or window. Activity Monitor says ACDSee is Unresponsive. So I've killed the process.

I've tried this a number of times. Any ideas?

I downloaded 1.1 (148) a couple of days ago and at least it now start and opens photos on my snow leopard machine. No print function, no editing, just able to search. When I reopened in Iphoto they will not print now. Be careful.

Seems like development of the Mac-version has been ceased... Nothing´s happening since the Snow Leopard blunder. At least for me, motivation for testing has dropped to zero...

I am running ACDSee 10 Photo Manager on a VMware Fusion session on my MacBook Pro. I have not organized my new files since the beta release, waiting to find out if conversion is going to be available and it is crippling my workflow! I don't want to do all of the organizing just to find out there is no conversion and I have to start from scratch. If I knew there was going to be a conversion, I'd start organizing now. I can't go on like this much longer!

I just got today an installation CD for the windows version of acdseepro2.5. Can I use/transfer this license for the MAC version so it doesn't expire in February? I just bought it, so I would not want to waste this one.

I have been getting an immersion course on OSX using a client's MacBook Pro to do a full video editing project in FCP.

In this projects there are often stills inserted in the track with voice overs....

Now, maybe as a noob to Mac I'm missing something, but it was driving me bananas that I could not sort through stills. I could not find an app that would do it on this MacBook.
iPhoto? You gotta be kidding. Preview? Get real..I'm not manually selecting all the images in folder evertime just to view them all.

So, I try ACDSee for Mac.

Oh man, this is damn near all I need ACDSee for Windows to be!
Thumbnails, viewer and fullscreen. YES!
No black UI, slick and fast as all get out. This is fantastic!

Thumbs up to the dev team on this one! Just improved my workflow on this project 1000%.

I downloaded a trial version of ACDsee, decided I don't like it, but now I can't delete the icon. I get messages about locked files. Can anyone tell me if I'll eventually be able to delete it, maybe when the trial time runs out? Inquiries to "support" are answered with a generic directive to register the software in order to obtain online services. I don't want to register it, I want to get rid of it!

Hello guys

Let me be a bit serious. How you can release a beta that can't be tested because the application won't even open?. I guess it should have been better to have tested it yourself first. We are not talking about an app that works but has bugs; we are talking about a beta THAT CAN'T BE EVEN OPENED.

Sorry to be so tough but what you have done it is not normal. You should have thought it over before releasing.

Regards

This version of ACDsee is nothing close to ver9 or 10 in windows so we hope that it will be, as it stands it is similar to severals software packages such as Just Looking,

Hi,

I'm having trouble figuring out how to browse bundles without extracting them first. I used to do that in ACDSee for PC. But in this beta version for Mac I can't browse inside zip-files nor rar-files. When I switch to view mode it tells me the archive is empty. It's so very frustrating. I've never used ACDSee for Mac before and feel kind of lost in the UI. Can somebody please tell me how to browse inside a bundle? Thanks in advance!

For those who didn't get the newsletter last night, here is the excerpt about Beta 1.1.

As we move forward into the next phase of the Pro for Mac Beta, we're pleased to say forums are going strong with many of your suggestions making their way into the hands of developers. As Beta 1.1 gets ready to go live, many of you are asking, "What's coming up next?" Here's a quick list of the features that are planned for Beta 1.1 based directly on feedback from the ACDSee forums.

"Quick Look" Integration: Preview multiple file formats including images, video, music or audio, documents and spreadsheets in a pop-up window using the OS' Quick Look feature. Plus, you can preview items on a separate monitor and take advantage of third party Quick Look Plug-ins to preview other file types like .abr files.
Mouse Wheel Support: Easily navigate the application using your mouse wheel, including filmstrip and full screen viewing.

Open with External Application: Easily open any item in another application from ACDSee Pro for Mac. This provides extended flexibility for your workflow. It also offers an easy way to edit your images in advance of the implementation of editing features in ACDSee Pro for Mac.

Workflow Improvements: Beta testers provided feedback on their preferences for moving through the application, including moving from Manage to View mode and back, and showing images in full screen. Beta 1.1 plans include new options that allow you to choose how you prefer to navigate through the application.

Improved Status Bar: See image dimensions and longer filenames at a glance, for more visibility of important information.

Manual Refresh: Manually refresh your file list for greater control.

Folders Pane Scanner Progress: Offers improved feedback and performance when ACDSee is scanning a folder, generating thumbnails and retrieving metadata in the Folders pane. Especially helpful when navigating between several large folders!
