I'm getting a new computer with Windows 7. Does anyone know if I'll be able to run ACDSee 10 Photo Manager on Windows 7 OS? If yes, how do I transfer my Database from XP to Windows 7 and get it to recognize all my tags, etc.?

I have just reinstalled my computer with Windows XP. I backed up my ACDSee database to preserve the ratings and categories I had set on some photos.

Doing a restore of the database hasn't brought back this extra data. I have had a look under Database Maintenance and it looks like the files have mapped correctly, ie there are no orphans.

I looked in the ACDSee.bkup file and it doesn't list the folder where my photos were store. Is this normal?

Is there a way to check what files have been indexed in the database?

I really want to get the ratings back as it would take ages rating these again. Should I have done something else to preserve my ratings?

I use ACDSee 10 to maintain thousands of jpeg photos of 3x5 cards in alphabetical folders each jpeg of which has as many as 10 keywords assciiated with it. My power supply failed, and I took the computer to the local expert to fix. He fixed it, but he also installed an additional hard drive, and through some process (automated I presume) attemted to make one hard drive a programs drive, and the other a data drive. This resulted in moving ACDSee files without ACDSee software, Will I ever be able to restore my keywords to my "3x5 card" jpeg files? I've tried everything, but I really don't get the whole thing about orphaned files. I have "restored" using a backup file. But to no avail. I have no idea where files are "supposed" to be.

I realize this is an older version but I have been using it for years and love it. My system crashed and I lost everything. How might I get an installation file for this version and product key? It would really be helpful as this is the same version I have on other machines I use. I just don't have the setup file. It also has Fotocanvas 3.0 and Fotoslate 3.0. It would really be a help.

Sorry about re-asking this question (I see a request for the SDK has been made a few times via the search), but there doesn't happen to be any word on any way of developing your own plugin yet?

I'm interested in making one for v3.0 (I haven't been impressed by later versions, but I only require simple & fast image viewing), for proper IPTC/EXIF reading & searching, but don't really know where to start without an SDK.

Anyway. I'll go and join the queue, and cross my fingers (Not to mention to hope for the "new-old" version to appear).

I have had many great years of success running ACDSee from very early versions. I am running version 7 for the past few years and just in the last 2 days it started locking up when I change folders. It loads up fine and I am able to get into a folder, view pics but when I close the folder and try and open another it locks up the program, windows and my CPU runs at 100%. I have removed and re-installed, run Chkdsk, cleaned up old files. All other programs are working fine.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
