After transferring photos from my camera to my computer, some of the photos are not visible. An error message 'The source data format is not recognized' pops out. I am unable to open with other applications too. I even tried to copy the file to my thumbdrive and open it from another computer, but it failed.

I have also check in ACDsee > Database > Quarantine files. There is no quarantine files.

I think this is always a difficult question (it is for me as I haven't tried Lightroom since I gave up on the beta) as what people want from a program can vary considerably. Just look at the threads on what to some are minor issues with Pro 3 that will never affect them, whilst to others they are a major frustration.

When I tried ACDSee Pro originally I liked what it did and the way it did it suited me. Pro 3 has changed some things and has made me think about the way I work, but all in all I really like it. There is nothing major that makes me want to try Lightroom 2 and see whether that might have advantages (although recent threads on lack of support for some camera's raw formats does concern me).

If you are asking the question out of interest I'll be interested in the responses from those who have made the comparison.

If you are looking to make a choice I would suggest using the trial versions of both programs would give you an answer that suits you, although the comments on what others like and dislike are also valuable when you are using the trials.

This is a peer to peer forum. As an older version that came on the market before Vista, it will not work the way it was designed to and as a unsupported version, CS would be unable to help you anyway.

Interesting post sunitas.

When I was acting, I was very aware of my headshots and would choose different ones depending on the audition. The specific message each one conveyed was very important in making the right impression and that impression sometimes meant the difference, especially when the only time you got in front of the director was your headshot and resume.

Do you have any tips to share when trying to perfect shot?

The differences between the executive portraits and simple portraits are quite real and, depending upon the situation, may range from subtle to dramatic. They arise out of the purpose the portraits serve, the required preparations, and the way in which they are made.

Executive Portraits must first satisfy the foregoing concerns; additional considerations then come into play. Executive Portraits are purposeful in that they have a specific message to convey. They are, by definition, portraits of leaders. They must reveal, convey and support the sitter's leadership status.

Executive Portraits must bring out those qualities in the subject that underscore his or her sense of command, encompassing vision and gravitas. Upon publication, Executive Portraits become visual icons representing the ideas these leaders stand for.

Executive Portraits must be flawless. This does not mean that the subject must be physically flawless - no one is! Rather, the sitter's positive qualities must be presented so strongly that any superficial blemishes are not a distraction for the viewer.
Executive Portraits must be specific to the individual portrayed and project a consistent message to a diverse audience. Executive Portraits are virtually always re-purposed. They may be shot for one publication, an annual report, and then reused on a future, unplanned occasion, such as when the executive is honored with an award.

No two executives are identical, but two generalities describe those I have met. They really do have busy schedules, and they absolutely demand professionalism.

what u say about executive portraits?????

Yes but for mac users who include many photographers they do not want to have to use a Windows/Parallels solution. A mac only solution is what people want. Also the fact that macs may be a small segment of the overall PC market does not hinder many companies. One major piece of software gets 50% of its sales from Macs. The same could apply here.
