Is there a way to perform a digital burn and dodge in V3 that I haven't discovered yet?

You could go to edit mode, select an area, then fiddle with the exposure in that area. I doubt you'll like that, though.

FWIW, I find the need for burning and dodging is grwatly reduced by the Lighting tools in Develop mode. You can't select a specific area, but they work on a "tonal range", and often (but not always) that ends up being good enough.

Anyhow, you're right in the overall view - ACDSee gets you 95% of what you need, but sometimes, it doesn't,and you need an external editor (I use The GIMP mostly). And burn/dodge are pretty much at the top of the list for what would be the msot valuable to add, I think.

On ACDSee Pro 2,0 I get a blue mark on a top level category if a sub category is marked.

I understand, and others have also requested this feature be added back, so hopefully some day it will.

It is also very slow because you need to switch between "Organize-tab" and "Property-Database tab".

That's only slow if you normally have the Organize window open but not the Properties window. For me, it's almost always the other way around. I use the Organize window for only a few seconds at a time, when I want to view the contents of a given category, and I have it set on auto-hide so it goes away immediately after. But my Properties window stays up all the time, because that's where I can manage all the info about for my images. So you might consider rearranging your windows so that the panes that actually *need* to be open are, rather than avoiding using tose panes because they take time to open.

One example. Every piture taken in year 2009 has a category 2009. This category is a sub category of category Year. With Pro 3 i must eiter open the Year category or switch tab to find out if I have made this picture a member of category 2009.

Note that with the Calendar window, it's really unnecessary to go to all that trouble to organize pictures by date. But of course, I do understand that sometimes it would be useful to see the check mark you describe, and like I said, hopefully it will be added back some day.

On ACDSee Pro 2,0 I get a blue mark on a top level category if a sub category is marked. This makes it easy to see if I have forgotten a category. I have a category tree with many subcategories and it works very well with ACDSee 2.0. I know I can find this in the Database pane of the Properties window, but it does not tell you where in the categorytree you have marked this picture. It is also very slow because you need to switch between "Organize-tab" and "Property-Database tab".

One example. Every piture taken in year 2009 has a category 2009. This category is a sub category of category Year. With Pro 3 i must eiter open the Year category or switch tab to find out if I have made this picture a member of category 2009. In Pro 2.0 and 2.5 I get a blue flag on top level catergory Year. Much faster, more easy and I really hope this is possible in Pro 3.0.

For mee this is a very important feature.

By "Tag", I assume you mean Category? You are correct the listing in the Organize window does not show if an image belongs to a currently hidden Category. But the Database pane of the Properties window will show a list of all the Categories a picture belongs to.

My use of the strength slider has been to mix the effect of the WB change with what was there before. So if my image was too blue, I might use a white point selection, then use strength to back off the reult if I thoght it was TOO warm.

I often like the mix of ting and temp, but want it to be less of a change. I suppose I would achive better results if I learned to tweak just the temp and tint, but I think Strength allows you to simply back off your change toward the original WB.

That's just how I see it. After writing that I checked the Help document at it sounds like that is how it's intended to be used:

"Adjusting the slider to the right increases the white balance adjustment. Adjusting the slider to the left decreases the white balance adjustment."

To ensure this strong focus on stability and performance, there will be no additional features added before the final release. But that doesn't mean we're not still listening! With the opening of the new Features area, your new feature and enhancement suggestions will fuel the ongoing development of the product and will help shape future updates and versions.

If you provided suggestions in the Pro 3 forums, please be assured that they are appreciated and has been reviewed, logged by the product management team and will be moved over to the Development forum help fuel further discussions.

Is there a list of feature requests that got implemented in the Beta2 ?

Hello all,

Yes, downloaded and installed it and, except for the 'database quirk' I reported in the Bugs forum, my first impression couldn't be better. The new Gui, for my liking, is great. The new workflow (somewhat similar to Lightroom or DXO Pro) is more intuitive, and the new fetures I have played with so far, are very good, most specially the Color Equalizar. Good work ACDSee!

Ah! I almos forget about it. So far stability seems to be better than in 2.5, I haven had any crash or "ACDSee has detected an error and will now close". Let's hope this is really true and not just a dream ;-)

There are minor issues I've seen that I will report separately.

I guess beta version is something where it is late to request new features but we may try :)

I did not write down my ideas.. so far remember only the following:

1. Uploading photos to many photo sharing websites or just using FTP to any server. Personally I'm interested in Fotki.com

2. Removing dust from Canon RAW files using Dust Delete Data recorded by camera.
