Using a jpeg image I cropped it in the process/develop mode. After returning to the manage window it still showed the original pixel size in the botton status line although the picture was cropped ok, but when in view mode the correct pixel size was shown in the same status line. Is this a bug? it certainly seems strange.

Also when cropping a jpeg there seems to be no indication to what size the picture is being cropped too (in pixels).

These comments may apply to raw, I just don't crop raw files.

Edit: I just noticed if process/edit is used an indication of crop size is shown as in pro2.5

First I have to say that ACDSee 3 is awesome. It took a bit to get used to the new interface but after a few hours it was intuitive.....

I did however find a bug when batch renaming. First I had renamed individual files from IMG_**** to car#_**** (motorsport pictures). So I went back after editting and renamed using find "_" and replace "_2009_09_12_".

The use template to rename files was turned off (unchecked) adn was using the search and replace feature as I have with previous releases. This time it wanted to rename all files to 1_2009_09_12_**** instead of *_2009_09_12_**** (the inital * representing the car number). There were 79 different car numbers and all were renamed to 1 even though the use template wasn't checked.

Now if I went in a checked then unchecked teh use template section the rename was fine. Just a funky minor little bug.....

Pretty much what the topic title says: everytime I use the Import function, I have to re-enter my custom naming scheme. ACDSee does save the import settings (destination and backup folders, mostly), but not the naming scheme.

I try saving it in the Rename Templates popup, but the newly created template never shows up in the pulldown with the standard templates later.

Also, there seems to be some strange behaviour giving a message "You cannot modify a system rename template." This when I just created a new one using the provided 'new' button. And while I'm at it, why a 'new' button here, and a 'save' button in the screen before next to the 'choose import settings' and 'organize settings' pulldowns? I feel a bit stupid now.

Obviously, this is a bit annoying. :)

I often use the Adjust time feature.

Running it on a 182 files set takes about 6 minutes.

During that period, the disk activity is not very high and a full CPU is allocated to ACD.

The change of the EXIF date could be done in 2 ways : either patch directly the file (most efficient approach), which should be almost instantanous or, if the process is designed to be more generic and requires the file to be re-written completely (would be stupid, as the date can easily be patched), it would at the maximum take the time to copy all the files, which, in my case takes 45 seconds (test made).

Hello!

I have problem with use command "Batch Set Information" for setting IPTC data in DNG files (from Samsung GX-10 camera) under x64 Windows operating systems.

I try to do this in AcdSee Pro 3 Beta (build 304) and AcdSee Pro 2.5 under Windows XP SP3 x64 and Windows 7 (build 7100) x64. In all cases this function doesn't work for DNG files.

If I selected only DNG files and press CTRL-M (or use menu item), nothing happend.

If I selected DNG and JPG files and press CTRL-M, Batch Set Information window was appeared, but data saved only in JPG files.

Under 32-bit OS this problem doesn't exist.

Individual modification of EXIF or IPTC information file by file in the Properties Pane work fine but Batch Modification DNG files work only under 32-bit OS.

Hi,

When in Quickview mode and "fullscreen" option ticked, as soon as you hit the Esc button, it automatically removes the fullscreen tick. So in other words, the setting is only saved until you hit the Esc key. Next time when quickview launches, it opens in windowd mode again.

The other issue which I believe has been raised before, is the lack of ability to exit the Quickviewer completely from fullscreen mode with one press of the Esc key. At the moment it needs to be pressed twice to exit completely. This defeats the whole point of a quickview function. This function used to be present up until version 8 or 9 I think, not sure why it was removed.

Thanks

Clone........still locks up your system. Save As.......still doesn't work right. Still ugly black with no color options and no Esc Key. And on, and on, and on.

My advice: If you haven't bought it yet, DON'T!!!! If you have, consider it to be Beta 3 and use it for testing only.

I guess I'm going to have to accept the fact that ACDSee 3's handling of categories has gone downhill - you can't see what categories are assigned to an image unless you open all the subcategories to see which ones are ticked. I can see that it does most of what Lightroom does very well, but its a real shame that this basic function has been neglected so badly. For me the main strength of ACDSee was assigning categories to my entire image collection; including emf, wmf, pdf etc. It doesn't even preview ai (illustrator) files. In all ACDsee had jumped ship to the amateur/semi-pro photography market. I can understand why, but it didn't have to ditch the cataloguing features, and now its even getting left behind by Picassa in that area.

I have customized the "E" key to take me to Edit mode from View mode. But pressing E instead briefly flashes the exposure warning. I have verified that E is not assigned to that command (actually, the description that shows up for this command is also bogus - says something about uploading up to 10 files?). I find that is I press and release E, it briefly toggles the state of the warning and then immediately returns to previous view. If I press the shortcut I have actually assigned to he exposure warning, it toggles normally and sticks. If I press and *hold* E for more than a second or two, it does what I asked and takes me to Edit mode.

BTW, I take it this behavior is new to Beta 2, as my recollection is that beta 1 didn't have a simple way to toggle the warning at all..

In Manage Mode, filmstrip view, it should be possible to change the sort order without losing one's position in the folder. However, after a new file has been saved into the folder, the view will jump back to the first image (start of the filmstrip) upon clicking an item in the Sort menu.

Often when tweaking an image in Develop or Edit mode, I save a couple of alternate versions in the same folder with the original, adding a suffix. For example, after adjusting lighting in DSC_0254.NEF, I might save new versions as DSC_0254a.JPG and DSC_0254b.JPG. Returning to Manage Mode, the new images are out of sight at the end of the filmstrip, so I click Sort/Filename to bring them back into alphabetical sequence. Then the old and new versions appear side-by-side in the filmstrip, and it is easy to flip between them to choose the best one and delete the others. However, ACDSee now loses my place when I click Sort/Filename, and I have to scroll around to find it again.

This is a new problem in beta 2 (build 304). Previous builds and Pro 2.5 didn't have this problem.

John Radcliffe on "View mode > Pan Lock doesn't work"

Even with Pan and Zoom locks enabled (and the "Reset Zoom" option not selected), changing images does not show me the same part of the new image. The zoom level is retained, but I always get the top left hand corner of the new image. (This applies whether in Full Screen or not.)

Does Pan lock work for anyone else, and if so with what settings?

* * * * * * *

I also find that the relationship between the "Reset Zoom" option (Tools menu > Options >View Mode > Display) and Zoom Lock (Tools menu > Zoom) rather odd:

(1) Both off = image zoom changes between images

(2) "Reset Zoom" on / "Zoom Lock" off = as with (1)

(3) "Reset Zoom" off / "Zoom Lock" on = zoom level retained between images

(4) Both on = as with (3)

So "Zoom Lock" seems to override "Reset Zoom". Fair enough, but I find that once I've selected "Zoom Lock" I can't turn it off. However, if I toggle the "Reset Zoom" option that also turns "Zoom Lock" off.

This doesn't seem to make much sense to me. Does it work differently for (or make more sense to) anyone else?
