Hi to everybody.

I've a very big problem with database maintenance.

I've changed my hard disk, I've copied all my images (more on 30.000) in the new hard disk, into the same position, but now the database says me to not find my images, because they are on another volume.

How can I fix it?

Thanks for help

When I hover the cursor over a thumbnail I only get a blank "window" with no image. If information is requested it does appeared on the blank white "window". The question may have been asked before but I do not know how to find it. Probably a wrong setting.

Planning a PC migration to Windows7 within the next 12-14 months I asked when there will be a Photomanager version designed for W7.

The answer was diplomatic as expected but not about "when" but about "if" thee will be a new release.

So it looks that 2009 (V11) will be the last Photomanager by ACDSee...

Can anyone confirm similar rumours or answers from ACSDee support?

I use Photo manager 2009 build 113 on a WinXP SP2 whitebox computer. I have had no problems w/ earlier versions of ACDSee crashing (I have v 9 and earlier), but I have found V 11 to be nearly unusable. I have reverted back to version 9 but this makes me very unwilling to fork over any more money for "upgrades" that crash.

I have several directories that I call Movies, jpg1, jpg2,.., jpg4, pics and tempmovies. Tempmovies contains files that are in the process of being edited but are not yet ready for Movies. ACDSee v11 hangs within a few minutes when I jump from one directory to another. I tried the tricks here under Slow operation but that has not worked. That is, I deleted the files in my app data dir that were suggested.

Another slightly related question:

Why do we need this program to maintain a database at all? As far as I see, it takes too much time for it to scan a directory after entering, I see no benefit to the database, and I suspect it is causing the program hangs.

Thoughts, anyone?

I've had versions of ACDSee for years. One of the things I'd used a lot is the external file slideshow capability. With the older versions you could generate an file that listed your pictures, save the file with an .ais extension, then play it via ACDSee's slideshow. As an 'improvement' under 2009, the feature was dropped. I miss it badly. I'd used other applications to create the lists of pictures, then used ACDSee to run the slideshow. Now, I can't. I can just use the old version, but I'd love to be able to use the new version's transition effects.

Has anyone found a way around this? Any thought to bring the feature back?

Hello,

I've purchased PM2009 because of it's feature to categorize and ad keywords to my images in order to use these information in a web application, in other words i'd like to extract the PM2009 database into a sql or xml format

Is there a way to do this since it seems the build in export options cannotdo it.

Hi all,

I installed ACDSee Photo Manager 2009 on our new PC and it works fine, BUT, when my wife logs in as a different user, she can only use the quick viewer. Whenever she tries the browser, she gets this error message ("ACDsee has stopped working").

Another odd thing is that all JPG photo icons get a little square gray mark with a slanted white line on their left bottom corner.

All solutions offered in item 99 of the "Knowledge Base" were of no help.

Can anyone advise?

In ACDSee Photo Manager 2009, there are a couple of things I can't seem to figure out how to do. They are:

- Move the preview window to the right side of the browser window

- Get the preview panel to stay 'locked' to the side it's on rather than covering the thumbnail window. What I have to do now when I go into Browser mode from an image view is close the panel, select it so it opens, then pin it in place. Every time.

I've been using a really old version for many years and liked how it worked. I don't see myself upgrading if this is how the current version works.

Fotoslate opens, but not Photomanager. Every time I try to open it, I get nothing and sometimes I get a message about unable to connect to database. I tried re-installing, and nothing! I also tried several of the solutions to others here who got the "unable to connect to db", including deleting the files in the default folder, and still I cannot download or open it!

I was having a problem with ACDsee 10 being shut down due to Data Execution Protection. I am running windows Vista and this just started 2 weeks ago. Finially found a fix from another thread in these forums.

Here is the thread link and the exact post with the fix that worked for me. I hope this helps some others out since I still have not heard back from tech support.

http://community.acdsee.com/forums/topic/vista-64bits#post-form

Hi Phil,

As I told you I have open a ticket with ACDSee tech support and here is the solution...

From ACDSee support:
*****************************************************************************
(NOTE: The following set of instructions will remove your personal settings within the software)

Go to the Start Menu Then click on Search and Type in REGEDIT and hit Enter. Click on the + sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Click on the + sign next to Software. Right Click on the ACD Systems entry (Folder) and select Delete.
*****************************************************************************
And it work..............................

Also they said that if the above solution doesn't work, the database might be corrupt. So they suggest to delete the "CATALOG" folder in: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ACD Systems What you had also suggest me to do. But I did not have to do it.

Hope this will help others.

So simple when you ask the right guy.

Best regards

I tried the latest Photo Manager 2009 and the bug / non-feature is still there in Quick View

I want to see my photos fullscreen and when I press ESC i want the application to close...but no..you have to press twice ...

If I am in full sceen view and press ESC TWICE , the next time it will NOT go into fullsceen view...and I have to manually press F to enter full-screen. I thought you fixed this in 2009... :(

Please please please , if I set the application (Quick View) to full-screen, why on earth is the check-mark clears itself when I press ESC ? If I press ALT+F4 in full-screen it will rember but that's very very annoying!

It seems that acdsee makes like this : one folder 2009, then a new folder 10, then a new folder for instance 23 for 2009.10.23.
